This painting, as well as all of these large ones on paper, were built up in many layers, and keeping the integrity of the circle were part of the process, as in nearly every layer the edge meeting the circle with the space surrounding it had to be repainted. This was very time consuming and nerve wracking, because I wanted as perfect of a circle as I could get, and would not be able to paint out any wandering out of the circle. My body got very intimate with this shape, and my confidence grew with each pass.
